Pricing & billing terms
Effective 18 June 2026
This page explains how pricing, checkout, tax, and refunds work for Ameretat, the software studio operated by Ameretat LLC ("Ameretat", "we", "us"). It sits alongside our Terms of Service, Refund Policy, and Privacy Policy, which it does not replace. If anything here conflicts with those documents, the Terms of Service govern, except where the Refund Policy is more specific about refunds.
1. Who sells to you: Paddle as Merchant of Record
Our paid products are sold by Paddle, our authorized reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle (not Ameretat) is the seller and trader of record and your contractual counterparty for the purchase. This means Paddle is responsible for the order, checkout, billing, payment processing, invoicing, the calculation, collection, and remittance of applicable taxes, chargebacks and disputes, and the consumer-protection obligations that attach to the sale. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle's own Buyer Terms, which it presents at checkout.
Ameretat is the software provider and licensor. We are responsible for the product itself, the delivery of your entitlement, support, the accuracy of the pre-sale information on our pages, and our own privacy practices. We are not the seller of record, and we do not run checkout or handle your payment. Where you see a phrase like "your purchase" or "your plan" on our pages, it refers to a purchase made from Paddle as seller of record, with Ameretat as the provider of the underlying software.
Using Paddle as Merchant of Record does not remove Ameretat's own duties to describe our products and prices truthfully and to disclose the terms below. It allocates who does what; it does not transfer responsibility for everything to one party.
2. Prices, currency, and tax
Any price shown to you as a consumer is intended to be a final total, inclusive of applicable VAT or sales tax. Where supported by Paddle, prices are shown and charged in your local currency. The binding figure is the VAT-inclusive total that Paddle displays at checkout for your country, together with any additional charges, before you place your order.
Tax is destination-based: the rate that applies is the one for the country or region you buy from, as determined and applied by Paddle. Ameretat does not set, charge, collect, file, or remit any tax, and is not registered for VAT or any one-stop-shop scheme in your country. Ameretat supplies the underlying software to Paddle, which resells it to you; the tax obligation on the sale to you sits with Paddle as seller of record.
No paid products are active while Ameretat is ideating, and no consumer price figure is shown on this page. If a paid product launches later, the recurring price and billing cadence will be stated before checkout, and Paddle will show the final tax-inclusive total before any charge.
3. The product: what you get and how it is delivered
Before you buy, we want you to be able to judge what each product does and whether it will work for you. Functionality, delivery, technical restrictions, and compatibility are described on each product's page; the points below are the general ones.
- Delivery and access. Products are delivered as a download or accessed online, depending on the product. Access is granted right after your purchase is confirmed by Paddle.
- Entitlement model. Some products use a standard account identified by your email address. Others use no account at all: your entitlement is tied to a public key or credential that you control, not to your identity. Each product page states which model it uses, and any limits such as the number of enrolled servers, seats, or devices.
- Compatibility. Native apps require a supported version of macOS and compatible hardware; web tools require a current browser. The supported versions, dependencies, and any platform, device, or region limits are listed on the product page.
- Updates. Where a product receives updates, its page states whether and for how long functional and security updates are provided.
- Zero-knowledge products. For zero-knowledge products, content is encrypted so that we cannot read it, and access is tied to a key you control. As a consequence, if you lose that key we cannot recover it, reset it, or recover your access or content. This is a deliberate design characteristic, not a defect. See section 3 of our Terms of Service.
4. Free tier and trials
Our free tiers involve no charge and no payment information. Because nothing is charged on a free tier, there is no refund associated with it. If we ever offer a free trial that converts to a paid plan, you will be told the price, the date the trial converts, and how to cancel before any charge, and your express consent to the recurring charge will be captured at the Paddle checkout. A trial that converts to paid carries the same disclosures and consent as any other paid plan.
5. Subscriptions and auto-renewal
We do not offer paid subscriptions yet. The terms in this section apply to any auto-renewing plan once it launches and describe how it will work.
Before you are asked for billing information, and before you are sent to checkout, you will be clearly told the material terms of the plan:
- that the plan renews automatically until you cancel;
- the recurring price and how often you are billed (for example, per month or per year);
- the renewal date or billing interval, including when the next charge falls;
- how to cancel, and any deadline for cancelling before the next renewal; and
- that you can request a refund within 14 days of a charge, under our Refund Policy.
At the Paddle checkout, the auto-renewal terms are presented clearly and conspicuously, next to the consent control, with no pre-checked boxes. You give express affirmative consent to the recurring charge, and you receive a retainable confirmation (such as a receipt or email) that states the renewal terms, the cancellation policy, and how to cancel. Paddle runs the checkout and keeps the consent record; Ameretat is responsible for the accuracy of the terms that are presented.
If we change a recurring price or fee, you will receive at least 30 days' advance notice before the change takes effect, so you can cancel before the new price applies. For key-based plans with no Ameretat account, you provide a billing email to Paddle at checkout, and renewal reminders and price-change notices are sent there and shown in the product.
Renewals, proration, and access after cancellation. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel. When you cancel, the next charge is stopped, but your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, with no further charge. Renewal charges are generally non-refundable and are not prorated for the unused part of a period after the 14-day window, except where your statutory rights provide otherwise. Billing and renewal management are handled through Paddle.
6. How to cancel
For any auto-renewing plan, cancelling is at least as easy as signing up, and is available through the same medium you used to sign up. Because you sign up online, you can cancel online. You do not need to call us, talk to a person, or work through retention or "save" offers to complete a cancellation.
Depending on the product, you can cancel:
- in the product or your account, where the product has one;
- through Paddle, using the link or details on your receipt; or
- by emailing support@ameret.at with your Paddle order reference.
If a discount or retention offer is ever shown while you cancel, a clearly displayed control that immediately cancels will sit on the same screen, so you can decline the offer and cancel in one step. For products with no account, where your entitlement is tied to a public key, cancelling simply ends that entitlement at the end of the paid period; letting a plan lapse has the same effect.
7. Refunds
You can request a refund within 14 days of your purchase. The window starts on the date of your Paddle purchase; for recurring plans it runs from each charge (the initial purchase and each renewal). To request one, email support@ameret.at with the order reference from your Paddle receipt, or contact Paddle directly using the details on the receipt. Because Paddle is the Merchant of Record, approved refunds are processed by Paddle back to your original payment method. For full terms, see our Refund Policy.
Refunds follow Paddle's refund policy: one-time licenses and each subscription charge can be refunded within the 14-day window, and when a refund is issued the associated license or access is revoked. Outside that window a charge is treated as final, except where your statutory rights provide otherwise.
If you are an EU or UK consumer, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts. For digital content supplied immediately, that right is lost only where, before supply began, Paddle obtained your prior express consent to immediate supply and your acknowledgement that you thereby lose the right, and confirmed this on a durable medium; where that consent was not validly obtained, the right survives even after download. This consent is captured at the Paddle checkout as part of its Buyer Terms. Any limitation that would affect your decision to buy is disclosed before purchase, in your receipt, and at the Paddle checkout. Mandatory consumer-protection rights available to you under applicable law are unaffected by this page.
8. Invoices and your statement
The official tax invoice or receipt for a purchase is issued by Paddle as the seller of record. It carries Paddle's name and tax details, and Paddle's name, not Ameretat's, appears on your card or bank statement. Ameretat does not issue its own VAT invoice for your purchase.
If you need an invoice, a business or VAT-registered (B2B) invoice that includes your VAT number, or a corrected invoice, contact Paddle using the details on your receipt.
9. Truthful product and security claims
We aim to make every claim on our pages accurate and to substantiate our product and security claims. For our privacy-first products, that includes claims such as "zero-knowledge", "we cannot read your content", "we cannot recover a lost key", and "EU-hosted". These describe how the products are actually built: genuine client-side encryption, keys held by you, and systems and databases hosted in the European Union (Germany) where practical. We qualify anything that is partial or aspirational, and we avoid absolute security language. If you believe a claim on our pages is inaccurate, please tell us at support@ameret.at.
10. Screening and access outside checkout
As seller of record, Paddle performs sanctions and geographic screening and tax handling at its checkout, under its own Buyer Terms. A large part of what we offer never passes through that checkout: the free tier, key-based entitlements, direct app downloads, and access to our SaaS relay. The export-control and acceptable-use representations in our Terms of Service apply to all access to and use of the Services, including those paths.
11. Changes to pricing and these terms
We may change our products, prices, and these terms over time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, give additional notice. For auto-renewing plans, a change to the recurring price takes effect only after advance notice, so you can cancel first. A price change does not affect a charge that has already been made.
12. Contact
